Pond Watch - Amphibian Survey - February 10 to April 30
Nearly 100 ponds have been identified in the 4Bs. Many are small garden ponds but over 30 ponds are more significant and can be seen on Google Earth (see our pond reports in our Nature Magazine).
Amphibian Survey Ponds and other watery habitats like ditches and slow moving streams, provide great habitats for amphibians - frogs, toads and newts. Between February and April we want to build on our inventory of ponds to identify those which are providing habitats for amphibians. By sharing information of sightings we can build a picture of our amphibian populations and habitats across the 4Bs.
FREE TALK ON AMPHIBIANS To support our amphibian survey we have organised a free talk by one of Surrey's leading experts in amphibians and reptiles, Rick Anstis. Rick has a long standing interest and expertise in amphibians and reptiles and is secretary of the Surrey Amphibian and Reptile Group.
