The 4Bs Biodiversity Initiative is trying to create a powerful and effective network to help nature and protect, nurture and enhance biodiversity across the landscape in and around the villages of Buckland, Betchworth, Brockham and Box Hill. The network involves residents, land owners, farmers, schools, Parish, Neighbourhood and District Councils and Wildlife/Environmental NGOs.
Through a programme of education, research and knowledge sharing activities, the community is learning about nature: through voluntary, collaborative activities the community is helping to protect and enhance existing habitats and create new habitats for wildlife. In this way the whole community is helping nature and contributing to the Local Nature Recovery Strategy being developed by Surrey County Council. |

Our vision
A beautiful, unique landscape rich in habitats for wildlife, where biodiversity is protected, nourished and enhanced by the community of people living in Betchworth, Buckland, Brockham and Box Hill - the 4Bs
Community partnership with nature
A healthy planet can only be achieved by the committed and coordinated efforts of whole communities working with organisations and associations that have important roles in managing and caring for nature and the environment. Inspired by this vision, the 4Bs Biodiversity Initiative aims to nurture and facilitate discussion aimed at achieving the vision for a landscape rich in habitats for wildlife where biodiversity is protected, nourished and enhanced by the communities who live here.
We greatly appreciate the willingness of rrepresentatives of Parish Councils, Mole Valley Distric Council, Surrey County Council, National Trust, Surrey Wildlife Trust and Surrey Hills National Landscape to come together to discuss the idea and we invite all members of our community to share their ideas and perspectives too. |
