Birds are the most visible wildlife we see and hear on a daily basis.
Like all wildlife they are threatened by human activity. The 4Bs initiative sets out to learn more about the birds that live in our area and help them through the winter when food supplies are scarce. (Read about Caring for our wild birds).

Our bird populations have declined significantly in recent years. Some studies suggest that the decline of our insect populations are having an impact on our bird populations but our ability to understand the links between invertebrate and bird populations is hampered by a lack of extensive long-term monitoring data for many invertebrate species (read more).

We need more and better information about our local bird and insect populations and the 4Bs Biodiversity Initiative is encouraging members of the 4Bs Nature Whatsapp Group to share information and photographs about the birds they sight. The information will be collated and curated on this page.
