Origin of an idea The foundation for this initiative is the creation of a Betchworth B-(biodiversity) Line in 2023: a contribution to the UK-wide network of biodiversity corridors created by Buglife. With financial support from Betchworth Parish Council and Buglife, 70 residents cultivated over 2000 sq m of wildflowers to help insect pollinators flourish. The proposal seeks to expand the concept and practices of a B-Line to connect wildlife habitats and ecosystems through the creation of a 27 sq km Biodiversity Park across the parishes of Betchworth, Buckland, Brockham and including Boxhill, part of the Parish of Boxhill and Headley.
Commitment & collaboration To achieve this vision will require sustained commitment and collaboration between the residents, communities and councils of the 4 B Parishes, and numerous organisations that have roles and responsibilities for the management and stewardship of this unique landscape. The discussion is being facilitated by a small team of volunteers from the Re-Betchworth Charity.
